Message from the Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Arab Emirates

Hearty congratulations to AmCham Abu Dhabi on its 30th anniversary. The U.S. Mission in the U.A.E. is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with AmCham Abu Dhabi as we work diligently to enhance the overall U.S.-U.A.E. trade and investment partnership.

The United States and the U.A.E. are strategic allies and close economic partners, with a dynamic commercial relationship that generates nearly $25 billion in two-way trade and supports tens of thousands of jobs in both countries. For the last seven years, the U.A.E. has been America’s largest export market in the Arab world, and business investments in both directions have grown dramatically in the last decade. Given these facts, it is no surprise that over 1,000 U.S. firms have established a presence in this country.

AmCham Abu Dhabi and its members have been at the forefront of making it possible for U.S. companies, their partners, and their employees to succeed in the U.A.E. Since my arrival in 2014, I have been wholly impressed by AmCham Abu Dhabi’s significant contributions to strengthening the commercial partnership across a range of sectors. Indeed, it is AmCham’s advocacy, substantive events, policy analysis, and networking that make it widely regarded as one of the premiere American chambers in the region.

A top priority of mine is to work with the American business community to support our commercial relationships here in the U.A.E. To AmCham Abu Dhabi and its members, I look forward to continuing to work with you to broaden and deepen our shared cooperation in important ways – including the successful delivery of the Dubai 2020 World Expo, and offering our collaboration to help the U.A.E achieve its goal of undertaking a mission to Mars early in the next decade.

These are, of course, big endeavors that will require sustained effort. For my part, I am committed to supporting the U.S. private sector in bringing the best of American technology, services, products, know-how, and value to the U.A.E. How we, as a team, implement our collective efforts today will lay the groundwork for increased U.S. economic vitality in this important market tomorrow. I am keenly aware that success begins with you, and I thank you for your hard work, strong partnership, long-term commitment, and sustained engagement.

Trade and investment represent the keel of the U.S.-U.A.E. relationship, providing great stability and keeping us on course, and I remain optimistic about the prospects for our expanding and deepening relationship. As your companies seek to capitalize on opportunities in the U.A.E., the U.S. Mission is eager to partner with you.

We welcome this partnership and look forward to supporting your business priorities and objectives in the U.A.E.
